How far along: We are 39 weeks developed! I read through a bunch of early posts on here. Can't believe how far we've come!
Baby D's Gains: Baby D is just waiting to meet us. S/he is still developing some fat layers to help regulate his/her body temperature after birth. Also, Baby D is probably shedding some skin at this point. Baby D is compared to a small watermelon this week, weighing in at over 7 pounds and more than 19 inches in length! According to babycenter.com, boys tend to be a bit heavier than girls in birth weight.
Total weight gain: No gain this week-still 32 up from where I started!
Stretch marks: I do have some strange marks that have appeared! I'm not sure if they qualify as stretch marks... We'll call them "warrior wounds". :)
Belly Button: I don't think it can stretch anymore. Still.
Movement: Baby D is very active. Which is good, because he/she is supposed to be active all the way up to birth. It is impossible to sleep when Baby D is kicking though. And a ton of movement brings on a BH contraction.
Exercise: I've only walked this week!
Biggest Pains: The fact that Baby D is still in there... Haha just kidding (sort of). We are getting anxious for Baby D to make an appearance. I really don't like not knowing when s/he will be coming!!! (That's MUCH worse than not knowing the gender!)
Our Preparations: We are ready already! I'm done working. Today is my first day off. I've vacuumed and steam vac'd and I just want to be done waiting!
Miscellaneous Happenings: My belly has been a magnet for hands in the last week. The officer at school touched it, a total stranger touched it (and then asked me to please not give birth in her driveway), a man from church touched it, AND a 7th grade boy touched it! I don't mind a whole lot, just find it rather amusing because I've never felt the urge to touch a pregnant person's belly.
Also, trying to be active to go into labor-I don't think that really works. Saturday I spent the day climbing in and out of the back of a U-Haul truck. By the end of the day, I was in so much pain I could only take about 5 steps at a time before I had to stop. And that wasn't labor... So I'm now convinced that trying to go into labor would only bring on pain, NOT labor!
Lastly, yesterday was my last day of work til August! It was kind of sad-I've had a really fun group of kids this year! They made me cards and gave me gifts and told me how much they would miss me. Ah, such sweet 7th graders (at least that's how I'll remember them...) One boy suggested I just keep working and have the baby at school. He thought it would fit right into their human life unit in science. I thought it would just be awkward...
We'll see if we make it to a week 40 post!! :)
Have a great week!
