How far along: Baby D is 37 weeks developed and is now officially considered "full term". Yay!
Baby D's Gains: Baby D is apparently now around 6 and a third pounds and is compared to the size of a stalk of Swiss Chard. Don't know what that is? Me either, but here's a link to see one: Swiss Chard. Baby D can now be born and is mature enough to adapt to life outside of the utopia of my womb. He/she is now more than 19 inches long and likely has hair (unless he/she gets that gene from me). According to babycenter.com, most babies are born with locks that are 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches long!
Total weight gain: I gained another pound this week, making my new total 30!! That's a nice round number (maybe I can stop now?). New pictures on the blog of my lovely baby tummy!
Stretch Marks: Still none. Strangely.
Belly Button: Still there, still gross. My belly is often lopsided these days, due to the fact that Baby D's butt makes one side stick out more than the other. So my belly button is no longer the center of my stomach.
Movement: Still lots. And it's very visible. Twice this week people have marveled at my moving stomach.
Exercise: We didn't get to bike this week. :*( It was rainy over the weekend. I did do some pilates though! It makes me so sore!
Biggest Pains: I have moments of actual pain now, rather than just discomfort. My bladder hurts when Baby D is positioned funny. It hurts to walk sometimes. I am moving rather slowly these days to try to counter some of that! Also, my belly gets rock hard whenever I stand from a laying position, whenever I walk more than a few feet, whenever I climb stairs, whenever I try to hurry anything, whenever I have to pee really bad and then some other times just randomly. It's a very strange feeling! (Am I gaining muscles from this?)
Our Preparations: We attended a childbirth class on Saturday. It was pretty interesting to see all the other pregnant couples. Many of them are due around the same time as us. We learned a lot about what childbirth will be like and I actually feel better about it now that I can see exactly what is coming up. I am curious to see what it is like for me, since it is so different from person to person.
Miscellaneous Happenings: In a staff meeting yesterday, Baby D was practicing karate and some of the other teachers took note of my rolling stomach. My principal then proceeded to ask me if I was sure that thing was staying in there until May. Nope, nope I'm not. But I'm hoping so! Cuz my 7th graders need to learn slope-intercept form yet!
That's all for this week! Crazy to think... But maybe Baby D will have arrived next week?! Who knows? People keep asking me when I'm having this baby... anytime between now and 5 weeks! Yikes that's a large time variance...
