How far along: 36 weeks! 1 week til full term!
Baby D's Gains: According to babycenter.com, Baby D is still packing on the pounds-at a rate of 1 ounce per day. He/she is about 6 pounds now! I feel that. My belly is very, very heavy. I can lift it with my hands, which provides temporary relief for my bladder (and makes me feel like I'm carrying a baby!). We had a doctor's appointment yesterday. Baby D is still head down and his/her heart rate is in the 140s. My doctor was surprised by how low the head is. She said I'm probably feeling a ton of pressure because of that. I don't really know, being that this is the only child I've carried, what a "ton of pressure" is, but I feel heavy, that's for sure!
Total weight gain: I gained one pound this week, making my new total 29 pounds!
Stretch Marks: None. My doctor is quite impressed by this feat.
Belly Button: Still stretching.
Movement: Still lots of movement! Baby D doesn't have much room to move around in there, so he/she just slides his/her legs and arms up and down. And the hiccups are still very prevalent!
Exercise: Biking and pilates! We biked with the dogs the other night. That was super fun! (Aside from all the nasty bugs.)
Biggest Pains: I'm getting very sleepy! I think I could sleep for days if I could just get comfortable lying down. And I'm starting to feel quite achy from all this excessive weight on my front end. Mike rubbed my achy back at 2:30 this morning when I couldn't sleep because it was so sore. What a doll! Oh, and my "maternity" shirts are starting to get too small. My pants sag because the slide right down the cliff of my belly and my shirts aren't long enough to reach my sagging pants. It's quite a dilemma, really.
Our Preparations: We have a baby class this week! 8 hours of learning how to have a baby and then take care of it. Should be enlightening. I hear you even get a certificate at the end. We also met with the hospital coordinator yesterday. We learned all about what vaccines Baby D will get when he/she is born and what the procedures are for when we come in and stuff. Lots of info!
Miscellaneous Happenings: People (including myself) are amazed at how much my dang tummy has expanded in the last week or so. We had a 3 day weekend this last weekend and my coworkers are convinced I expanded exponentially since they last saw me. I only gained a pound, but I think Baby D must be in some position that sticks him/her out more or something. I had a dream that Baby D was a girl... And was African American. So... I guess we'll see?
We are getting excited for Baby D to make his/her arrival soon! I'm super stoked to see Mike as a dad. It's gonna be so cute! :)
