How far along: Baby D is now 29 weeks developed. He/she has more than a 90% chance of survival if born at this gestational age! (I don't have that on the schedule for this week though, rest assured.)
Baby D's Gains: According to babycenter, Baby D is approximately 2.5 pounds and is about the size of a butternut squash this week. Baby D is sucking vitamins like it is his/her job, so it is important that I eat well right now. I am supposed to have lots of protein (yuck!), calcium and vitamin c now because Baby D will be taking most of it from me. We had a doctor appointment this last week and Baby D measured a week ahead of where we are. Also, Baby D's heart rate was LOW-in the 130s. The doctor says that's normal, but we've always had in the 150s or 160s (which is about average). Our doctor told us that according to the old wives tale, Baby D would be a he. (She also said she didn't believe the wives tale.) Ah I guess we'll see!
Total weight gain: This week was a bit of a disappointment on the scale. I gained no weight. So, I'm still at 19 pounds total. I don't understand how you gain and don't gain weight. I feel like I ate a ton this week. I clearly have no control over my body right now.
Stretch Marks: Still not present. At least not that I know of. To be totally honest, I can't see the underside of my belly. Mike tells me there are no marks there.
Movement: Baby D is still moving away. Baby D moves a lot at church on Sundays-during the sermon especially. This last week, we had an older gentleman with a British accent read scripture and Baby D went CRAZY the whole time! The movements are different now than they have been. They are less like jabs, slower and more pronounced. I can often push back on whatever is pushing on me because it is sticking out so far. Mike thinks he felt Baby D's head today! Baby D also had hiccups again today!
Belly Button: Still sticking out a bit. Will it ever go back to normal? It is so stretched out and strange looking. I dislike it when Baby D moves behind or right above my belly button. Grosses me out.
Exercise: Still running. I ran outside today with both dogs. I feel like people probably look at me strangely. It still feels pretty good to run though, so I figure I might as well. And since winter hasn't shown up this year, I might as well take advantage of the near 60 degree weather.
Biggest Pains: I've been having sleep difficulties. I'm not really uncomfortable, I just seem to wake up really early. And then I can't fall back asleep. I toss and turn (which takes a great deal of energy since my stomach muscles are MIA). I don't know if it is a lot on the mind or what. I also had to have my gestational diabetes test run this week. Luckily, I didn't pass out AND I passed. So, I'm not diabetic or anemic!
Strange Happenings: I had a student give me a monkey that said "just hang in there". I must be looking pretty rough. He also brings me candy, so I must look hungry too... The teacher across the hall FINALLY had her baby (8 days overdue). A 9 pound, 7 ouncer. YOUCH. So, the students are no longer worried about that happening at school! I often forget that I will be out the month of May and how soon that is coming. I committed to a meeting with a parent in May. The parent actually had to tell me that I wasn't going to be working much of May, so it probably wouldn't work. I was like "OH you're right!". Yikes, May is creeping up on me! Which is kind of stressful, because I don't feel like we have any of the necessities we need to be housing a baby! All in due time. Spring break is in 3 weeks and I intend to be ready by the time Spring break is over! Sarah was in town over the weekend and we found some nice used baby store
Happy-almost-spring-time!! (Could still go for a snow day though...)
