How far along: 28 weeks big! According to babycenter.com, this now puts me in the 3rd trimester. Different sources have different weeks listed as the start of the 3rd trimester, some as early as 25 weeks. I'm not sure what the deal is with that. I think it has to do with whether you are going by 37 weeks as fully developed or 40.
Baby D's Gains: This week, according to babycenter.com, Baby D weighs in at around two and a quarter pounds. He/she is nearly 15 inches in length and is compared to a Chinese cabbage (click here to see what that looks like ). Baby D can now sense light!
Total weight gain: 19 pounds! 2 pounds this week! According to babycenter.com, I'm likely to gain 11 more in the third trimester. A baby bump picture is scheduled to appear in the slideshow this week, so look out!
Stretch Marks: Still MIA.
Movement: Totally. The kicks are getting quite strong. The other morning, Baby D was ready to get up for the day at 4:00. I was not too thrilled about that. For some reason, I thought the baby would be waking me up at weird times AFTER it was born. Apparently this one can't wait for that. Every time I would start to drift off, I'd get another big jab or my whole belly would roll as Baby D repositioned him/herself in there.
Belly Button: Still sticking out a tiny bit.
Exercise: Running felt pretty good this week! My legs have been feeling better, I'm not sure why!
Biggest Pains: My leg cramps have subsided for the time being. That may be due to the increased amount of bananas, potatoes and milk that I have been consuming. My back has been feeling remarkably better this week too! I did have a "near pass out" experience after spending several hours cleaning the kitchen with disinfectant over the weekend. That was not very fun. Oh, and not being able to see the underside of my belly has been making it very difficult to button my pants (by button I mean tie a hair tye through the button and hole). I'm in there for a few minutes trying to get everything lined up with my fingers!
Strange Happenings: What is strange is that I did not get a snow day this week! I really thought I would get one yesterday, but no, got nothing. The good news is, there is no school on Friday I guess. The bad news is, I have to get blood drawn on Friday. I'd much rather go to school. About Baby D, I guess nothing too strange has happened. I am always tickled by the timing of Baby D's activeness. During prayer at church, while I'm trying to sleep, sometimes in the middle of trying to explain something to a student (very distracting). Although I find it irritating sometimes, I have been relieved this week. I was afraid I may have harmed him/her by nearly passing out. So, movement was a welcomed feeling! I've had lots of people tell me that Baby D is going to be a boy this week too. I always find that interesting since I really don't have any inklings about what gender Baby D will end up. We'll see who all is right and who all is wrong in just about 12 short weeks I guess!
Have a super week!
