Baby D's Gains: This week, Baby D has some very interesting developments! According to babycenter.com, Baby D is now sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his/her eyes and can now suck on his/her fingers! Baby D's lungs, although not yet fully developed, are capable of breathing air if he/she were born this week. Baby D is also around 2 pounds this week and is compared to a head of cauliflower!
Total weight gain: 17 pounds-another 1 pound week!
Stretch Marks: None yet! I use cocoa butter lotion daily. The internet says there's no proof that that does anything for preventing stretch marks, but it sure does keep me from itching my stretched out belly all day!
Movement: TONS. STILL. I don't know what Baby D is doing inside of there, but whatever it is, it sure seems to be taking up a lot of space. I can feel my bladder get nailed at the same time as my rib cage. This week, Baby D would push something (not sure what part of their body) against my side and keep it there for a few moments. One time I pushed back on it and whatever it was-it was hard! It grossed me out. Baby D will move for me now whenever I lay on my side and whenever I eat!
Belly Button: My belly button can be seen through my shirt this week! It is sticking out just a tiny bit!
Exercise: Still running. My legs are still burning from it! I think I will start incorporating some squats or lunges to try to build up my leg muscles a bit. They aren't used to the 17 extra pounds they are lugging around all day!
Biggest Pains: Leg cramps. I don't really know that I've "craved" any food, but I sure have eaten a lot of bananas lately to try to keep from waking up in severe pain from intense leg cramps. I've been trying to keep from crossing my legs when I'm seated. I've heard that is supposed to help. Also, just today, I started getting some weird numbness in my left hand and the left side of my face. Not sure what that's all about, but it was pretty annoying too.
Strange Happenings: I can't think of any weird happenings at school from the last week! We REALLY need a snow day, I do know that. One of my coworkers was due today (and is still teaching everyday) so I got to answer lots of funny questions (that they were too afraid to ask her) about what to do if her water breaks in the middle of class or if a baby comes falling out of her. I don't think I will work all the way up to my due date. I don't really want them to sit in class visualizing this happening to me... Plus, I'd be mortified if my water broke in front of a bunch of 13 year olds...
Thanks for reading this week's update!
